MASS celebrated its 30th panel in 2017 — making Canada a modern leader in deliberative democracy.

Since its founding in 2007, MASS has developed unparalleled expertise and become a world-leading convener of long-form deliberative processes for government. In the spring of 2017, we celebrated a special milestone with the completion our 30th Citizens' Reference Panel, Citizens Commission, and Citizens' Assembly — and since then, we've completed three more. Cumulatively, these processes represent more than 30,000 hours of public deliberation by more than 1000 volunteer participants. It also marks the mailing of our 225,000th Civic Lottery package, the special, highly detailed invitations which we post to randomly selected households across Canada. To date, approximately 1 in 67 Canadian households have received an invitation to volunteer to serve in a deliberative process.
